Our Mission
We help make movement a pathway to strength and confidence, self-awareness, and emotional regulation—for real life.
Our Values
Whole-Person Growth
Body, mind, spirit in one practice. We don't just build skills, we strive to integrate your lived experience and your communities into meaningful stories, with communication and partnership principles you can hone beyond the studio.
Psychological-Safety First
We believe that safety enables learning. We will gently guide you into the experience, checking for comfort and readiness always. No abrupt entries, trauma-triggers and no forced experiences.
Non-judgemental Space
We believe movement belongs to everyone. We uphold a respectful environment where diverse bodies, backgrounds, and learning paces are welcomed.
About the Founder,
Skylar Ong Si Qi
As a child, Skylar long knew that movement was not only cathartic, but informative and critical to feeling 'alive'. This belief has fuelled her integration of Psychology and Dance to pursue Dance Movement Therapy and various forms of movement e.g. dance, acroyoga and partnering. This helped her understand deeply the intriguing idea of 'mind-body connection', a powerful way to help us gain clarity and empowerment, ultimately, build better relationships with ourselves and others.
Her early association with Dance Movement Therapy fuelled her education path to complete her degree in Psychology at the National University of Singapore, and a further diploma in Dance Therapy from New Zealand Dance Therapy. She also served 4 years as a child protection officer in the Ministry of Social and Family Development and today, she is a certified Dance Therapist, certified Acroyoga Instructor, dance teacher and business consultant with Deloitte Consulting.
Since 2012, she has been working with organisations and various dance therapists to provide Dance Therapy-inspired movement programmes to troubled youths. In 2021, she joined Movemental to deliver dance therapy programmes and therapeutic dance to multiple populations, including groups with mental disorders in step-down care, senior activity centres and teens with mental health histories in schools and drop-in centres.
Informed by her humbling experiences at the Child Protective Services, today, she observes trauma-informed means of interacting with clients and actively strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space to support inclusive healing and wellness. This principle is held consistent throughout the classes she teaches across dance, acroyoga and contemporary partnering. Believing in the gifts of both therapy and acroyoga, she also specialises in integrating technical and therapeutic elements into a blended programme to ensure a goal-driven, body-first, person-centred experience for her clients.
